     Lippi was born in 1406 and became an orphan at a very young age. After his parents died, he was raised by his aunt, and then entered the order of the Carmelite Friars of Florence. Lippi's earliest works as a painter are found in Prato where he painted frescoes of John the Baptist and Saint Stephen for the main cathedral. Cosimo de' Medici was a very important patron for Lippi. Lippi was also the teacher of Sandro Botticelli.
